Close Up Of Tuna Boat Figures

Latest Additions to ASMM

The latest additions to the museum are 2 wonderful ship models.

The first, a model of SV L’Avenir has been donated from Augusta Historical Museum in Western Australia. L’Avenir was a large four-masted barque that carried bagged grain from Australian ports in the 1930’s

The second model, donated by the sons of the craftsman, is fashioned as a tunny boat, fishing tuna and other seafood in the northern hemisphere, from the 1890’s up until the end of WW2. Everything on the model is handcrafted.

If you haven’t visited the museum in a while, we welcome you to come and see not only these models but other interesting artefacts and memorabilia that have been added to our collection in the past few months.

School holidays are about to begin. We offer children’s questionnaires that can be completed. They cover all aspects of the museum and enhance the visiting experience for all concerned. Ask at the front counter if you would like to complete one and learn more about ASMM.

Cruise Ship season is about to begin with the first ship, Diamond Princess, berthing on Wednesday 2nd October. We look forward to welcoming all visitors to Port Lincoln and to the museum. We are open from 9am to 4.30pm on the days that ships are visiting.
