Axel Stenross Maritime Museum set to welcome cruise ship visitors to our city

The cruise ship season commences in Port Lincoln soon. Nine ships are scheduled to visit between December ’23 – March ’24, bringing 29,000 passengers and crew to enjoy the sights of the city and surrounding areas, and to sample our outstanding seafood offerings.

Axel Stenross Maritime Museum opens from 9am – 4.30pm  when cruise ships are in port and welcomes all visitors, offering a discounted entry fee of $8 per adult on the day. Visiting the museum is a great way to learn about the maritime history of Port Lincoln and the growth of its iconic fishing industry.

There are a number of ways that cruise ship visitors can arrive at Axel Stenross Maritime Museum:

  • Some take the opportunity to stretch their legs and enjoy the 20-30 minute walk along the Parnkalla Trail. This gives a great view of Boston Bay and passes the site of the First Landing of European settlers in the Port.
  • Some choose to share an economical taxi ride from the foreshore  – easy to get and only a 5 minute ride to the Museum.
  • The guided Hop On Hop Off bus stops at museums and local tourist spots and will  enable guests to view a variety of Port Lincoln highlights, picking up/dropping off approximately every hour.
  • Some will have booked on a tour such as EP Bus Charters Seafood Story. This tour incorporates a visit to Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, along with other sites.
